The Debt Centre provides free debt counselling – offering hope and a practical solution to anyone in our town and surrounding area who is struggling with unmanageable debt. Christians Against Poverty (CAP) is a national charity that we work in partnership with to offer a combination of face-to-face home visits, budgeting advice, debt management, creditor negotiations, insolvency services and befriending. We deliver a holistic and in-depth debt counselling service to those in need. The church established the centre alongside 4 other local churches and CAP has trained members of these churches to equip them to deliver the service that also involves church volunteers helping the Centre Manager in a variety of ways.

In partnership with 4 other local churches, the Job Club supports people in developing skills and confidence to find work. A CAP Job Club is for anyone who is motivated to gain employment but may be facing some barriers. Each club is a place where jobseekers can meet weekly to encourage one another, increase their work-related networks and gain practical skills for finding work. During the programme, the team will help those that attend in putting their CV together, assessing the job market, advising on the right route into work for their chosen role, and help with interview techniques.

The CAP Release Group is a support group for anyone with life controlling habits such as smoking, drinking, gambling, food, internet, etc. The release groups provide a place of trust and security, where people are offered emotional and practical support. The group runs as an 8 week structured course.
